IsiXhosa video recorded assignment submissions: First Year EDC students submit in Sakai (iKamva)

First year, Education Development Curriculum (EDC) – IsiXhosa students were requested to video record an IsiXhosa literature piece. The students could select any Xhosa piece and record themselves making use of their mobile devices. The EDC lecturers intended to listen to students’ pronunciation of IsiXhosa words.

The CIECT team attended the EDC lectures in order to demonstrate the submission of video-recordings into the iKamva platform. A large number of students visited CIECT for training related to the compression of video files; and online submissions.

The EDC lecturers were further advised to consult with the CIECT team regarding a video-editing workshop for students. The workshop will address some of the technical issues students encounter.

Colleagues wishing to participate in a video-editing workshop, are encouraged to register (for ‘basic video editing’ training sessions), using the iEnabler, on-line registration booking system.

Bookings should be done at least two working days in advance.
